Model based Verification and Validation of LiDAR sensor

Aditya Madane , Nilesh Sakle

129-140

Abstract :

This research paper presents the study of modelling and validating the results of simulation of LiDAR sensor with actual sensor data. The model can be further utilized for virtual testing of various ADAS functions. The virtual sensor is a physics-based sensor capable of emulating the real sensor. Initially an in-depth study of Velodyne VLP-16 sensor was carried out in order to parameterize the virtual sensor model. The sensor is modelled virtually in Gazebo simulation environment. Gazebo is used along with ROS (Robotic Operating Interface) in order to record the sensor data. Data conversion from sensor message format to Cartesian coordinates has been carried out. This was done in order to have a common format of actual and virtual data for validation. Four different objects were selected for validating the sensor data. The validation methodology is based on comparison of actual recorded data generated by Velodyne VLP-16 LiDAR and virtually generated data by the virtual LiDAR sensor model. The validation proves that the in case of static scenarios, the virtual lidar sensor model is 99 % accurate in measuring the range to the object. Although there is slight deviation from the actual value, it is in the acceptable limits.

The use of Edublog as a methodological tool in achieving learning situated in the university context

Carmen Angélica Salazar Deza, Tomás Francisco Rosales León, Santiago Saturnino Patricio Aparicio, Jorge Victor Mayhuasca Guerra, Francisco Manuel Hilario Falcón

141 - 147

Abstract :

The purpose of the research work was to establish the incidence of the use of Edublog as a methodological tool in the achievement of learning located in the university context of the Faculty of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Federico Villarreal National University, using the approach quantitative, with a non-experimental design, using population of 450 students, after the calculation of the sample, 202 students were obtained information was collected through instruments that were validated by technology experts and their validity with Cronbach's alpha index, the results of which indicated that both instruments were highly reliable. The results showed that according to the perception of the students, there is a significant high correlation between the study variables.

Simulation of CRDI Vehicle and Effect of Aftertreatment Devices

Nikhil Bondre , Vikrant Haribhakta

148 - 158

Abstract :

The project aims at simulation of diesel vehicle and the effect of after treatment devices on emissions of vehicle in mathematical environment. Environmental degradation due to pollution is increasing also emission norms of vehicles are becoming more and more stringent. Newer technologies are developing to attain the target of reduction in emissions. After treatment devices like diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) is used to oxidize CO and HC, diesel particulate filter (DPF) is used to trap particulate matter and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is used for reduction of NOx. In this project, simulation of light-duty diesel vehicle is performed and results are validated with actual data. Simulation of above devices provided reliable results as well as variation of different parameters within the components helped to improve the efficiency of system. Based on the reduction of emission, the conversion efficiency of after treatment system is calculated. Optimization of geometrical parameters of diesel oxidation catalyst and diesel particulate filter is done to further improve the performance of system.

Formative evaluation of school children in times of pandemics

María JohanaValle Zevallos, Francisco Manuel Hilario Falcón, Ilich Ivan Pumacayo Palomino

159 - 166

Abstract :

The state of emergency around the world has caused different consequences (economic, political, and socio-cultural variations) unusual, as in the educational environment where teachers must cope with the situation with the technological tools available to develop a formative assessment in a context of confinement, which limits their teaching work. This article focuses on the strategies used by teachers in the development of formative evaluation, the construction of evaluation criteria, and feedback used during virtual work. The qualitative method is applied with a phenomenological approach (ethnographic) in which 4 teachers participate in an interview in order to obtain results that can demonstrate the different evaluation methods based on educational issues. In synthesis, the study is complemented in three stages: (a) Descriptive, (b) Structural, and (c) Discussion. Finally, the formative evaluation in a sustained and personalized way, using different means of communication, makes a follow-up according to what each student needs and allows to know what each student has managed to develop during the confinement period, which will allow to propose teaching strategies and to better adapt the teachers' practice when returning to the face-to-face modality.

167 - 174

Abstract :

This research project presents the environmental problem of technological waste management for the Universidad Nacional Federico Villareal and shows how it is possible to monitor the process using an information system to monitor, control, measure and make decisions in each sub-process of technological waste management. The project enables monitoring based on data and information. The recording of collection, storage, reuse and final disposal of waste is important to control the monitoring process and reduce the environmental pollution produced by technological waste. In addition, it implies determining the favourable acceptance to develop and implement a monitoring system to control each of the processes in the life cycle of the technological waste. From the technological point of view, it also presents the chosen development methodology, the process flow of the monitoring management, the modular architecture, the software architecture, the database design of the solution, the design and development of the interfaces based on the requirements.
Keywords: Technological waste; waste management; waste monitoring; monitoring system; software architecture; environmental contamination
